Accessible psychological support

ACCESSING OUR
SERVICES

Booking a session with Kindred Steps is easy, with a range of schemes in place to help those who would otherwise find it challenging to get support. We also offer a Telehealth service for people in remote locations or who may struggle to access our services.

FEES, POLICIES AND REBATES

01

CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY FEES

All clinical psychology sessions cost $200.00 and last 50-60 minutes

Fees are payable on the day of your session

Payment can be in cash or by credit or debit card

02

SESSION OPTIONS

In-person sessions

Telehealth Video online (web-based) sessions – please note, this is not a suitable option for clients experiencing acute crisis, suicidal thoughts or serious mental health issues

Phone sessions – as requested

03

CANCELLATION POLICY

Please provide us with 48 hours’ notice if you are unable to attend your appointment as we often have people on our waitlist that would benefit from your session time if you can’t attend

We will send an SMS reminder 48 hours prior to your appointment and request confirmation at that time

04

MEDICARE REBATES

If you bring with you a Mental Health Care plan from your GP, then you are eligible to receive a Medicare Rebate of $137.05 per session for up to 10 sessions over a 12-month period

05

PRIVATE HEALTH

If you are using your Private Health Insurance to access rebates towards your sessions, you do not need a referral from your GP and can simply give us a call to book in

Each health fund is different, so please check with your Provider to see what your cover entitles you to

Please note: you cannot use your private health insurance ancillary cover to top up the Medicare rebates. You need to decide if you will either use Medicare (if eligible) or your private health insurance for any psychological services you receive

06

NDIS

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a new way of providing support for Australian Citizens and Residents with disability, their families and carers. Accessing psychological therapy and counselling as well as neuropsychological assessment through the NDIS will ensure that you receive the support that is best tailored for your needs

Kindred Steps offers psychological counselling and other psychology services for NDIS participants with a current plan. You are welcome to email a copy of your plan to us so that we can better understand your support levels and needs

07

INSURANCE, CTP AND WORKER’S COMPENSATION

Kindred Steps provides psychological services for treatments paid by Insurance for Adjustment to Injury and/or Return to Work issues

We are, most of the time, able to directly invoice these third parties, ensuring there are no out-of-pocket costs for you. In order to do this, we need you to provide us with confirmation that your claim has been approved and is inclusive of Psychological Services prior to your initial session

08

TELEHEALTH

We offer psychological services via Telehealth to all our clients, with some located internationally

Telehealth enables ready access to our clients who live in rural or remote locations, those who can’t attend a physical location due to work, or who have specific disabilities that impact on their capacity to access mental health services

Based on your referral type, you might also be eligible to receive a Medicare rebate on your Telehealth sessions
